The mission of PHDC is to develop new and rehabilitate
existing housing for low and moderate income families in the
City of Philadelphia through joint ventures with community
development corporations(CDC's); provides basic system repairs
and weatherization services to current homeowners; and direct
rehabilitation of vacant homes. PHDC also creates job-training
opportunities and effects placement of neighborhood residents
in projects through proposals, contracts and joint ventures.
PHDC has expanded its thrust to capitalize on its
leadership position and its broad, in-depth experience in housing development
to respond to the trends and needs of a commercial business. Yet it
maintains its original characteristics and purpose by providing services
such as pre-purchase inspections; construction and project management;
and packaging of development proposals for public and private financing
services on the open market for competitive fees in the Philadelphia
area and beyond.
