PHDC received more than $58 million in federally
subsidized funds and has raised more than $10 million in private funds
to produce 403 low- and moderate-income homeownership units and repair
or replace the site infrastructure in conjunction with community-based
organizations.
PHDCs Development Division works with
individual Local Development Corporations (LDCs), joint venture partnerships,
city-sponsored programs and other public agencies in the development
of houses. PHDC provides the technical services necessary to successfully
complete the developments by utilizing its staff of housing professionals
- development specialists, real estate specialists, inspectors and architects.
Through representation on the Board of Directors
of the LDC and involvement in project marketing activities, the community-based
non-profits receive hands-on experience which serves to enhance their
organizational capacity to carry out future development projects independently.
The creation of local employment and training opportunities, together
with MBE/WBE and DBE participation are significant components of our
neighborhood development strategy.
